The department of Building and Construction was established to:

   Provide practical Education and Training skills which are responsive and relevant to Kenya’s Agricultural ,Industrial, Commercial and Economic needs
Encourage self-employment while at the same time producing skilled craftsmen, technicians and Technologists for both formal and informal sectors
   To provide practical skills and attitudes this will lead to income generating activities in the urban and rural areas through self-employment
To provide increased training opportunities for the increasing number of school leavers to enable them to be self-supporting.

CERTIFICATE COURSES

Certificate in Building and Construction is intended to equip the trainees with technical and problem solving skills on which to build their analytical ability during the work experience. The trainees should be able to work safely, accurately and efficiently in any building construction, road construction, Irrigation Engineering, earth works and works undersea. In addition, the course units will impart

General knowledge to enable trainee contribute positively to the society

General Objectives of the Courses
At the end of this course, the trainees should be able to:

  • Develop positive attitude toward practical work
  • Communicate efficiently on matters related to the job and environment
  • Apply appropriate construction techniques in Building and Civil Engineering projects
  • Understand the role of Building construction techniques
  • Acquire skills required in problem solving involving design and construction
  • Acquire knowledge required in management of construction works
DURATION OF THE COURSE:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

The course is designed to take duration of two years for Knec Artisan  and two and a half years for Nita Artisan courses (Grade 3,2,1)


Trainees for this course should have any of the following minimum qualifications

Course is Open for Nita Tests

KCPE for KNEC Artisan
